Our Impact

History of Boldo Fire

  • Established in November 1985

  • 10 Charter members

  • Our first engine was a 1969 International R-185 (Retired Navy Fire Truck) donated by the AL Forestry Commission in 1986.

  • Dispatched by phone & CB radios.

  • First Station built at current location on Hwy 69 behind Boldo Water March 1987.

  • We bought our first truck, Eng. 2, a 1961 Mack Pumper, an open cab truck from Babylon NY.

  • Then dispatched through Walker County Sheriff's Department.

  • Station 2 was built in 1996 on Old Birmingham Hwy in Union Chapel.

  • 19 Firefighters

  • 4 support personnel

  • 12 State Certified VF 160

  • 10 State Certified FF II

  • 10 State Certified Instructors

  • 2 Stations to serve both Boldo & Union Chapel communities

  • 6 Apparatus

    • 2-Class A Pumpers

    • 1-Reserve Pumper

    • 2-Tankers (for water)

    • Brush Truck (for woods/grass fires)

    • 1-Rescue/Medical Truck

  • Dispatched by Walker County E-911

  • Average 400+ calls per year
